Transformation is one of the most powerful forces in life. It’s a process of change, growth, and evolution that brings us closer to realizing our fullest potential. The metamorphosis of a butterfly is a perfect metaphor for this process of transformation — from a grounded caterpillar, confined by the limitations of the earth, to a magnificent butterfly, soaring freely through the sky. Each stage of this journey programmed by nature is filled with challenges, growth, and a beauty that reminds us of the power within all of us to transform our lives.
Our transformation is different from butterfly. Other living beings are strictly programmed to transform. A caterpillar is programmed to be crawling at first, then in a certain timeline to become a butterfly that flies. As a result of the evolution within time, this is programmed by nature. It is not that one caterpillar becomes a butterfly, and another becomes a bird—maybe a few don’t survive the journey and die, but all others have one path: to become a butterfly. As humans, we are not fully subject to the concise and harmonious path of nature like a caterpillar. We are experiencing free will.
Thus, every human’s life journey and path of evolution will be different… many factors, many findings, many paths, many different timings.
Free will guides us as we move from that which is completely programmed at birth to a grown human being. There is some programming within us, such as knowing to seek a mother’s breast after birth to breastfeed. As we grow, we get more connected with our free will. In terms of our spiritual growth, we can grow to become whoever we choose, or choose to not experience growth, or choose to go “south” or decline. All of it is up to us. Who is “us”? It’s the individual and collective.
Free will is an ability and a response-ability of humankind. Unlike the caterpillar who only becomes butterfly, some of us will become an “eagle,” some a “butterfly,” and some will stay as a “caterpillar.” We can go to the right versus left, to the north versus south. Each path has its own consequence.
The COCUN consciousness helps us, individually and collectively, use our free will to go on a journey in resonance with our essence, and the universe. To be a guide, we must first meet ourselves and each other wherever we are on this journey. What are your life coordinates? There is no road map or GPS. In life, we can certainly feel lost and ask ourselves, “Where am I? How did I get here? Where am I going?”
We are not fully programmed by nature, and often we do not know the answers to these questions. Because of this, we need to be guided. In the physical world, when we are lost, we open our phone and look at the map. When seeking where you are as a whole—mentally, physically, energetically, spiritually, emotionally—there is no map. You need guidance. Your GPS is COCUN.
The name COCUN is reflective of the evolution process, creating awareness of our ability to transform. However, recognizing free will, COCUN is a consciousness, an intelligence to help us see what is right in front of us—often things we don’t see or feel, and therefore disconnect from. As a result of this disconnection, we are in pain. We are in pain because of our past experiences that led us to our current place, and we are in pain because we have no idea where we are going. Seeing what is currently present, and what is currently available to us, eases this pain. Some have called this mindfulness.
COCUN founder David Delrahim reflects on how he chose this name:
“Years ago our marketing company gave me three different lists of 800 names. Nothing connected on the first two lists. But on the third list, seeing the word COCUN I stopped and just new that was the right name. Reflecting back, what was that? Was I really knowing in that moment the whole story about caterpillar and butterfly? No, I didn’t. The word was in resonance. And everything that we found out later, it was already in COCUN. We just weren’t able to see it with the naked eye. At the soul or cellular level, I saw everything without having this knowledge of everything. It is the right name that was meant to be to serve this mission and to embody the mission, and to embody this whole journey.”
Every word bears different consciousness. COCUN is a consciousness with infinite applications. It’s not an entity.
Conclusion: Spread Your Wings
The power of transformation is within all of us. Whether we’re feeling weighed down by the gravity of our current circumstances or navigating the struggles of personal growth, the butterfly reminds us that transformation is possible. It may take time, patience, and perseverance, but with each stage of the journey, we come closer to realizing our true potential.
Unlike the butterfly, we cannot just trust the process of transformation. Our environment (people, circumstances, resources), our mindset and our free will influences the paths we choose along our journey. COCUN is here to help you embrace the challenges, do the inner work, and when the time comes, spread your wings and fly. You are capable of far more than you realize, and the beauty and freedom that await you are worth the journey.
